How to sleep with snoring noise?

The muscles of the throat relax during sleep, causing the upper airway to narrow. Air flows irregularly and quickly in the narrow airway, which causes the soft tissues to vibrate during breathing, causing snoring. The more severe the upper airway narrows, the louder the snoring sound will be.

1) Change Sleep Position

Changing the sleep position from sleeping on the back to sleeping on the side can prevent the tongue from dropping backwards and reduce the possibility of snoring due to obstruction of the airway.

2) Lose Weight

Obese people are more prone to accumulate fat around the neck, which makes them more like to have snoring. Therefore, losing weight can help to reduce snoring.

3) Avoid Alcohol

Avoid drinking within 2 hours before going to bed, because alcohol will relax the throat muscles and exacerbate snoring. Even people who don’t usually snore may experience snoring after drinking.

4) Clear a Stuffy Nose

If your snoring is caused by the mucus in your nose, taking hot bath or rinsing your nasal passages with the saline solution before going to bed can help you to improve your snoring caused by congested nose.
